Week Six Round Up

Top Dog: Warren Main (Klinkerbelles) – 67

Division One – Klinks in the Clear!
Klinkerbelles 16 – 0 Ginger Mingers
Top met second at the George and Dragon and the Klinks go 18 points clear, winning all 4 sets and hitting 550 total pins. Warren Main was the top dog with 67, Ray Macbeath was highest for the Mingers with 54.

 

 

Flintstones 13 – 3 Earlybirds
The struggles continue for the Birdies as they go down at Winscombe CC. Cam Nicholson with an impressive 58 was best on the night for the home side, Whilst Rich Adams’ 47 was best for the away team.

 

Nomads 14 – 2 Anchors

Nomads get back on track with 45 pin win at Home against the struggling Anchors. Dave Wilmott continued the good form with 58 for the home side, D.Heathcock was best for Anchors with 50.

Rascals 13 – 3 Crown Inn
Rascals make it 4 on the bounce with a good win over the Crown, Nath Millet leading the way with 57. Best on the night for the Crown boys was Steve Fraser’s 53.

Regent Sports 12 – 4 Unionist A
Nick Richards made the difference with 59 in a close game at the Boro (521-513). A’s remain winless despite a nice 56 from Dave Morgan.

W.Anchors Away 3 – 13 Worle Club
Wanchors slip down to 7th following a hom defeat to the Worle Club. Rich Gould’s 53 was best on the night, Frank Thompson hit 49 for the home side.

 


Division Two – Harries shot down, Bittermen go clear.

White Hart Harriers 0 – 16 Bittermen
Bittermen hit the Harriers for six taking all 4 sets in the table topping clash in D2. Andy Collard with an impressive 60 away from home was the best score on the night, Harriers trio of Sellick, O’Connor and the in form Roche each hit 46 for the home side.

Admirals 5 – 11 Stragglers
Stragglers are into second place thanks to a 6 pin win at the conservative club (475-481). Charlie Loud for the away and G.Wilkinson for the home team shared the top score with 51 respectively.

Coach House B 4 – 12 Dab Hands
Dab hands move into joint 3rd afer a smash and grab at the Coach House. Paul Adams 46 was best score for the coach house was matched by A.Harper of the away side.

Lord Nelson A 2 – 14 Beermasters
Beermasters took the spoils in this mid table clash at Congresbury Mem hall. Wayne Gardner’s 50 for Beermasters was beaten only by C.Parsons of the home side.

Social Club B 13 – 3 Survivors
Survivors put up a fight with just 10 players but lost this one by 19 pins. Best on the Night was A.Russell with 51, Martin Bewley hit 42 for the home side.

Uphill Steamers 0 – 16 Bleadon Racers
Racers take all 16 point in a whitewash at the Ship. Evergreen Charlie Reeves leading the way with 51. C.Dudd’s 42 was best for the home side on a night to forget.

Division Three – Regency Win again, Prince of Wales up to 4th!

Crusaders 2 – 14 Churchill Club
Churchill club take the spoils in the first derby of the season in this one. Kev Tucker lead the way with 58 for club, best for crusaders was M.Wilkinson with 44.

Half a Bag 4 – 12 White Hart Mavericks
Mavericks edge a close one thanks to a spare on the last hand (464-467). Yan Bertakis-Sims topped the board with 48 for the visitors, Steve Wood was best for the home side with 45.

Langford Rovers 2 – 14 Weston Legionaires
Legionaires back to winning ways after a low scoring night at the Worle Club. Bowden vs Bowden for top score went to M.Bowden with 43 for the home side, C.Bowden hitting 38 for the visitors.

Regency Alleyblasters 10 – 6 Clarence Lions
Regency record their second win despite losing 3/4 sets by just a single pin (419-418). G.Sweeting lead the way with 40, top of the board went to J.Humphrey of the Lions.

Shepherds 2 – 14 Peckers
No card at the time of writing!

Strays 4 – 12 Prince of Wales
Duffy’s men are up to 4th after a good win at the 49 club Despite a good effort from Paul Blackman with 47 for the Strays. Skudder and Jones shared top score for the away team with 45.

Week Five Round Up

After a break in league action for cup games, Alleyman Jnr reporting on action around the league!
Top Dog: Dan Pratlett (Earlybirds) – 61

Division One – 2 clear, 2 points in it!

Anchors 4 – 12 Klinkerbelles
Anchors put up a fight in this one taking 2 sets, helped by a great 54 from Spencer young. Klinkerbelles proved too much for them late on, winning by 30 pins (496-526) to remain top of the table. Dean Hazell was best for Klinks with 51.


Crown Inn 12 – 4 Nomads
Crown remain in what looks like a race for 3rd place after a 49 pin win at home vs Nomads (541-492). Steve Crandon highest for the home side with 54, Paul Stewart’s 49 was best for the away side.


Earlybirds 2 – 14 W.Anchors Away
W.Anchors away are here to stay! Last seasons D2 Runners up made it 3 wins from 5 with a 57 pin thumping of Earlybirds away from home, despite a fine 61 from “top dog” Birdies Captain Dan Pratlett who was best on the night. S.Thomas’ 51 was best for the away side.

 

Ginger Mingers 12 – 4 Flintstones
Mingers are keeping pace with the Klinks making it 5 wins from 5 after edging out Flintstones in a close game. Jeff Wall was top on the night with 52 away from home, Mingers M.Brazier was best for them with 48.


Unionist A 4 – 12 Rascals
A’s poor start continues after they came up against a resurged Rascals who made it 3 wins on the trot with an impressive 550 away score on the Con’ Club. Crothers & Pike were best for the A’s who took 2 sets, Craig Millet best on the night with 55 for Rascals.


Worle Club 15 – 1 Regent Sports
Club storm into 6th Place with their second win in a row, after a dominating display on home soil. All sets bar one (drawn) and a 46 pin win helped by 50 from M.Tucker, Rich White’s 41 was best for the away side on a night to forget.


Division Two – Bittermen charge on!


Bittermen 12 – 4 Social Club B
6 from 6 and now an 11 point league lead for Bittermen after a 20 pin win (470-450) at home to Struggling Social Club B. Colin Payne topped the night with 56 for the home side, H.Gudge was best for the visitors with 48.

Bleadon Racers 15 – 1 White Hart Harriers
Racers caused an upset in fine fashion and have their second win of the season helped by C.Davies’ 54 at Hornets. The away inform man Colin Roche notched another spare on his way to 48. Harriers will look to bounce back next week against the Bittermen at HQ.


Beermasters 2 – 14 Coach House B
Coach House are up into 5th after edging out the Beermasters in a close game at the Golden Lion (479-488). J.Mellish on target for Coach with 50, Wayne Gardener was best for the home side with 48.


Dab Hands 12 – 4 Uphill Steamers
Dab hands make it 3 wins from 5 whilst the Steamers remain in search for their first win after a close one at the 49 club (477-465). G.Pincott was best on the night for the home side with 47, J.Wooton hit 45 for the Steamers.


Stragglers 14 – 2 Lord Nelson A
Stragglers leap from Lord Nelson and move into 3rd place after beating Lord Nelson at the G&D in a close game that could have gone either way (479-472). Evergreen Charlie Loud had 52 for the hosts, whilst top score went to Chris Parsons of the visitors with 55.


Survivors 4 – 12 Admirals
Admirals strong start continued at the theatre of cheese with after a 5 pin, 12-4 win. Matt Tupper was best for the Admirals with an impressive 55, D.Hillier’s 41 was highest for the home side.


Division Three – A new challenger for wooden spoon?!

White Hart Mavericks 16 – 0 Shepherds
Mavericks take the spoils and all the points on a great night filled with plenty of banter at HQ. Shepherds remain rooted tot he bottom of the table and now 10 points behind Alleyblasters despite M.Benyon’s 52 which was best on the night. Jennings and Bertakis-Sims equally best for the home side with 48.


Churchill Club 4 – 12 Langford Rovers
Rovers remain in persuit of the Mavericks with their 4th win from 5 at the Churchill Club. Tony Roberts 51 was best on the night for Rovers, Russell & Cook best for the Club with 40.


Peckers 15 – 1 Regency Alleyblasters
Peckers also keeping pace with at the top and are joint level with Langford in 2nd place after demolishing the Alleyblasters at the Woodborough by 50 pins. (495-445) Al Matthews 48 was the best consolation on the night for the Rege, P.Williams was highest for Peckers.


Clarence Lions 12 – 4 Crusaders
Lion’s took the spoils in a very close game at the Social club (446-438) thanks to a a superb 59 from veteran Paul Angear. P.Timms was best for crusaders with 47.


Prince of Wales 14 – 2 Half a Bag
M.Newland was on target for Duffy’s men with 54 at home in convincing win (482-432) despite the best efforts of away captain Gavin Wood who’s 55 was the best on the board.

Weston Legionaires 14 – 2 Strays
Legionaires take the spoils of the 49 club derby despite Geoff Tucker’s 53 top score Strays. R.Blackborrow on target with 50 for the home side was their best on the night.

Next Week see’s top 2 in both D1 and D2 face off as Klinkerbelles host Ginger Mingers and White Hart Harriers host Bittermen!

Div 1 – Klinks and Mingers Lead the way!

Anchors 4 – 12 W.Anchors
Anchors took 4 points despite playing with just 9 players in this one at the Ship. Hope to see them back to full strength next week, Top scores were 48 from S.Venn for Anchors and a captains innings from Jeff Parslow with 52.

Ginger Mingers 13 – 3 Earlybirds
Mingers take the spoils from the Birdies with another impressive 500+ team score on the all new high scoring Consti club! Rich Adams with 50 for the away side, Ray Macbeath getting 57 for Mingers who keep the 100% start going.

Regent Sports 4 – 12 Nomads
Nomads edged a win from under Regent sports noses in what looked a thriller at the Boro sports (509-522) Pete Read was best for the home side with 51, Mike Singfield on Target for the away side with 55.

Unionist A 2 – 14 Klinkerbelles
The A’s rough start continues despite 57 from captain Phil Dean in this one. Klinks proving to good and remain top with 3 wins from 3. Oli Wilcox and Warren Main were best for them with 47 each.

Crown Inn 11 – 5 Flintstones
A cracking local Derby at Winscombe CC saw Flintstones take 2 sets and draw one, but pipped by the crown for the win by just 4 pins (516 – 512). A trio of Davis, Wall and Stephens were best for the “away” side, Lee Dodd was top on the night and best for the Crown with 56.

Worle Club 2 – 14 Rascals
Rascals off the mark at 3rd time of trying with an impressive victory at the worle club despite a great 57 from K.Edwards for the hosts. Russ Loud took the spoils with an impressive 60 for Rascals.

Div 2 – SEVENTY SIX for Roche!

Beermasters 2 – 14 White Hart Harriers
Harriers make it 3 wins from 3 helped by an emphatic away score for the ages – 2 x 18 spares for 76! Well played Colin Roche. Ty McKenna was best for the home side with 48.

Bittermen 14 – 2 Suvivors
Bittermen are also 3 from 3 following a good home win against Survivors, Dave Haigh and D.Hooper were best for the bittermen with 47 each, A.Chambers best for the away side and top score on the night with 54.

Bleadon Racers 15 – 1 Admirals
Racers are off the mark following a demolition job at Hornets, N.Waterhouse leading the way with an impressive 66, M.Butt’s 42 was best on a night to forget for the away side.

Dab Hands 14 2 Social Club B
Social Club continue to struggle and take just one set from a low scoring game at the 49 club (468-442). P.Baker’s 47 was best for the home side, K.Dangerfield hit 44 for the B’s.

Lord Nelson A 15 – 1 Uphill Steamers
Lord Nelson ran riot in this one and move into 3rd place, The ever consistent Ian Norton leading the way with 59, best for Steamers was 45 from M.Pinnock.

Stragglers 2 – 14 Coach House B
Coach House B had a smash n grab victory in a close game at the George & Dragon (479 – 483). A Dawson was best with 53 for the away side, G.Raines’ 47 topped the home side of the board.

Div 3 – Peckers win again!

Churchill Club 4 – 12 Half a Bag
Half a bag get their first win of the season in a low scoring game at Churchill (403-435). Chris Tucker’s 49 was best for the home side, Stephen Wood was top for the away side with 43.

Clarence Lions L-L Strays – Late score.

Peckers 12 – 4 Langford Rovers
Peckers make it 3 wins from 3 in a game that went right down to the last ball (480-476) – A trio of Watt, Rippon and Hayter all hit 43 for the away side, top man on the night and best for the home side was Mr Ashman’s 46.

Shepherds 2 – 14 Crusaders
Crusaders take the spoils by 20 pins (426-446) thanks to 44’s from A.Heel and D.Bush. C.Robinson’s 48 was best on the night but Shepherds take just one set and remain winless this season.

Weston Legionaires 0 – 16 Prince of Wales
Despite 49 from Ryan Jones, Legionaires took a 4 set hammering from PoW – with John Eastwood leading the way with 51.

White Hart Mavericks 14 – 2 Regency Alleyblasters
Mavericks remain top of the table with a 100% start following another low scoring affair at the White Hart. M.Parfitt’s 39 was best for the away side who perhaps deserved more than just one set! James Milsom’ 47 was best for the home side.

Division 1Klinks and Mingers lead the way

W.Anchors Away 8 – 8 Crown Inn

What a cracking game this was! 2 sets each and 537 for each team as the W.Anchors welcomed the Crown to the Golden Lion. Super Frank Thompson continues his great form with 62, Pete Blackwell was best for the visitors with 56. 


Ginger Mingers 16 – 0 Worle Club

Mingers hit 551 on the consti to take all of the points in this one. Ed Flint leading the way with 62, Steve Partridge’s 48 was best for Worle club. 


Klinkerbelles 14 – 2 Regent Sports

Despite a great 60 from Nick Richards, Regent sports fell short in this one as the Klinks managed 574 at home with Kev Stock and Clint Harding best for them with 58 each.


Earlybirds 14 – 2 Anchors

The birdies got off the mark with 3 sets in this one, Captain Dan Pratlett lead the way with 51. Anchors took two points in the last set as Geoff Poole led the way with 55 for a 142 set total.


Flintstones 14 – 2 Unionist A

Flintstones bounce back with a 3 set win over Unionist A, N.Moore’s 50 was top for the home side whilst Dave Blackhurst hit 49 for the A’s. 


Nomads 16 – 0 Rascals

Nomads back to winning ways in impressive fashion, Arron Hawkins leading the way with 51. Rascals remain the only side not to have won a set despite 50 from Paul Griffiths on the night. 


Division 2
Close at the top! 

Admirals 14 – 2 Dab Hands

Admirals continued their surprise start and sit just a point behind the league leaders after winning this one by 10 pins (485-475). M.Sinclair was best on the night for them with 54, J.Hale’s 52 was best for Dab Hands. 


Bittermen 12 – 4 Stragglers

Bittermen remain Top of the table after a 34 pin win. James Palmer best on the night with 54, Steve John hit 48 in reply for the visitors who take 2 points and remain in 4th. 


Social Club B 2 – 14 Beermasters

Beermasters record their first win taking 3 out of 4 sets in a low scoring game at the Social. K.Crisp’s 43 was highest for the home side, whilst Matt Brearley was on target for the away side with 46.


Survivors 14 – 2 Bleadon Racers

Despite D.Findlay having the top score on the night with 43 for the visitors (Impressive at Cheddar!), they could only take 1 set as Survivors took the other 3 for the win. T.Sweeting / A.Holdford were highest for the home side with 42 a piece.


Uphill Steamers 4 – 12 Coach House B

Despite 44 being the highest scores at the ship for the Steamers, they are still in search of their first div 2 win as the Coach House took this one 392-411. Doughty and Pinnock hit the aforementioned 44’s for the home side, whilst it J.Poole and D.Talbot were best for the coach with 42 each.


White Hart Harriers 13  – 3 Lord Nelson A

New Signing Paul O’Conner was best for the Harriers whilst veteran Ian Norton kept pace for the away side – both hit 43 in a low scoring game at the White Hart. Harriers joint top following the win, Lord Nelson move down to 6th.

Mavericks Top! Lions in pursuit! 

Weston Legionaires 2 – 14 White Hart Mavericks

Back to the drawing board for an understrength Legionaires side who fell short by just 17 pins in this one (472-489) despite a good 46 from Pete Baines. Mavericks go top with 2 wins from 2 with James Milsom top scoring on the night with 55.


Half a Bag 3 – 13 Clarence Lions

Clarence Lions took the spoils in a close game at the football club 413-432. G.Owen was best for the visitors with 49, whilst Gav Wood hit 52 for the home side. 


Crusaders 16 – 0 Regency Alleyblasters

Steve Garside was best for Crusaders hitting 55 as the team took all 4 sets. R.Day / D.Oconnor’s 42 were best for the visitors who remain bottom of the pile. 


Langford Rovers 13 – 3 Shepherds

Rovers make it 2 for 2 and site 4th in the table with a a smash and grab effort at the Century club! S.Johns and Phil Yelland were best for the home side with 42, whilst M.Jones’ 46 was best on the night for the Shepherds.


Prince of Wales 4 – 12 Churchill Club

The summer party is over, and the wait for a win continues for Brendan Duffy’s side who lost this one by just a single pin (418-419). D.Greier / J.Brown shared the best score for the home side (43) whilst J.Fenwell took set and match with his 48. 


Strays 3 – 13 Peckers

Peckers win by 24 (436-462) as J.Dempster took top score with an impressive 58. T.Farrand was closest for the home side with 48.

Division One 

Anchors 4-12 Ginger Mingers
Mingers off to a good start away from home despite Al Absalom top scoring for the home side with 47. 44 from Ray MacBeath was the best for the visitors.

Crown Inn 14-2 Earlybirds
Crown debutant Dan Owen was top of the scores with 51 including an 18 spare! (Hope he bought a round with the winnings) Dan Pratlett and Rich Adams were best for the Birdies with 48. 

Rascals 1-15 Kilinkerbelles
Rascals managed to get just one point from the Klinks who started off the new season with 551 away from home including 60 from Jack Wilcox. Nath Millet’s 49 was best for the home side. 

 

Regent Sports 12-4 Flintstones
Regent Sports took the win in a close game (499-494) at the Boro Sports, with Dave Fisher’s 58 the best of the bunch. D.Lukins was best for the Flintstones with 48. 

Unionist A 4-12 W.Anchors Away
Unionist might well have found their ‘bogey team’ in Jeff’s W.Anchors. The closest game of week 1 was decided by just 2 pins (521-523) Top score on the night went to Dave Blackhurst of Unionst with 56, whilst Frank Thompson starts his quest for highest away average with a nice 50. Can’t wait for the return leg! 

Worle Club 14-2 Nomads
Worle Club caused an upset take 3 out of 4 sets from Nomads on home turf. A night to remember for R.Gould hitting 60, and one to forget for all but Paul Stewart who hit 50 for the away side (522-494)

Division Two
Beermasters 4-12 Admirals 
Admirals take the spoils at the Golden Lion in a close one (474-480) thanks to a nice 51 from J.Roswell. Beer Masters’ Matt Brearly’s 55 was best on the night, but wasn’t enough to get them over the line. 

Bleadon Racers 1-15 Bittermen 
Newly promoted Racers started D2 life against a tough Bittermen side who are looking to bounce back up to Division One this season. Jason Bailey top scored with 51 for the Bittermen, T.Pettit was best for the home side. 

Coach House B 2-14 White Hart Harriers
Harriers took advantage of an off night for Coach B (403-443) despite Will Poole hitting 52 to take the last set. Martin Taylor was top of the board with 42 for the Harriers. 

Dab Hands 14-2 Survivors 
Steve Hale was on target for the home side in a good 14-2 win for Dab Hands as Survivors head back to cheddar with just one set despite 48 from Andy Chambers.

Lord Nelson A 14-2 Social Club B
Not even top dog of the week Steve Venn (61) could stop the Lord Nelson taking 14 points from this one. C.Parsons hitting 51 for the home side who won by 55 pins. 

Stragglers 16-0 Uphill Steamers
Tough start for newly promoted Uphill Steamers who came up against a fine Stragglers side lead by Charlie Loud’s 57. Luke Vowles was best for the away side with 50. 

Division Three
Churchill Club 4-12 Weston Legionaires
In unfamiliar fashion, Legionaires won their first league game of the season by just 6 pins (425-431) Thanks to a 46 from Ryan Jones, Churchill Club’s Steve Miles was best for the home side with 48. 

Clarence Lions 14-2 Prince of Wales
Following a great presentation evening and long celebrated summer, the current FP cup champs entered the Lions den and came away with just one Set – Lions took spoils in this one helped by M.Orchard’s 54, M.Newland was top for the away side with 46.

Peckers 14-2 Half a Bag
With just 2 pins in it (454-452), Peckers take the spoils at the Woodborough. Top score on the Night went to R.Ashman for Peckers, with M.Wedmare and A.Curtis replying with 44’s. 

Regency Alleyblasters -3-13 Langford Rovers
In a game seperated by just 2 pins (436-438) The Alleyblasters can hold their heads high with 3 points and a mid table spot following opening night! Top score on the night went to G.Evans with 46, best for Rovers was J.Hayter

Shepherds 3-13 Strays
Strays off to winning start with a comfortable win despite a rocky start (408-425). S.Taylor was best for the away side with 40, and the ever present R.Jones hit 43 for the hosts.

White Hart Mavericks 16-0 Crusaders
Newly formed White Hart Mavericks got off to a good start in a very low scoring affair on the White Hart (443-385) with new pins. Just 3 players on the night with 40+ scores, Rich Wearing was the best of the bunch hitting 48 for the home side, whilst D.Bush and B.Horsham had 36’s for the visitors.

The League officers and Executive committee held the Leagues Annual General Meeting on Monday 17th June 2024 at The Conservative Club, Weston super Mare. 27/37 Teams attended.

The League officers and Executive committee welcome all members to attend the Leagues Annual General Meeting at 7:30pm on Monday 17th June 2024 at The Conservative Club, Weston super Mare.
